Lighting Solutions For Your Stairs And Beyond
As one of the leading design firms in Los Angeles, we go into a lot of homes and we walk up a lot of stairs, and we notice that these are constantly the areas which seem to be neglected when it comes to lighting. This is where sufficient lighting is really required! Not just as a pleasant way of illuminating your gloomy areas, but simply for safety. Yet this is the one area which will be typically under resourced when it comes to ample wattage. The first thing that we will do, when our top interior designers in LA visit, will be to calculate just how much light is required. We can do that by measuring the entire area. Then, we’ll set about working out the best ways to make that happen.
In other aspects of interior design, less may be more. But lighting is really one of those areas where more really is more, and then some more besides. In fact, we may go so far as to suggest that you can never have too much lighting, because it is all able to be switched off!
So what are the lighting options available to you? Well, much depends on the type of stairwell you have and how easily the light will flood through it. A traditional wooden paneled staircase, particularly one painted in dark colors – despite looking fantastic – will be in need of rather stronger lighting than perhaps a glass balustrade with open steps does.
